B.K. Peterson grew up in the Salt Lake Valley as the oldest - albeit the least mature - of seven children. He managed to surprise his parents by graduating from Copper Hills High School in 2000, and further astounded his friends and family by earning an Associate Degree in General Studies from Salt Lake Community College, and later a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Utah Valley University in 2011. It was during the seemingly endless bus rides to and from UVU that he conceived the idea for The Beckoning. He and his wife Brittany reside in West Valley, Utah, where they cheerfully struggle to maintain order in a home with three growing boys.
