Understanding her importance to both the book as well as to him, Quinn struggles with telling her the truth about who he is and just what he helps to protect. He knows that she still grieves for the loss of her father and would like nothing more than to go back and change what happened to him, something he cannot allow her to do. He knows, and understands, the effect changing one event could have on the future. Believing that her life is finally heading in the right direction with Quinn, Kassie is caught completely by surprise when everything starts to unravel. She learns that Quinn has been lying to her from the beginning and one of the few people she believed she could trust the most in her life is not exactly who he seems. She begins to learn the real truth about events in her own life and those she thought she could trust. Quinn must fight to regain Kassie's trust while trying to protect her from a part of the past everyone thought was dead and gone, a danger that threatens to force her to rewrite history itself.
