Ms. Wang Mengsha, a well-known contemporary Chinese ink wash artist, has released her first limited edition publication Landing Guy Walks into Mengsha. The publication includes many of the artist’s most iconic pieces from the beginning of her career. Rather than just compiling works as in conventional art publications, this book exhibits the works and creative ideas of the artist in a poetic and experimental manner, translating the idea of drama into a visual language. Through a discourse that spans time and location, the artist’s creative thought, and the display of her works, the ＂meeting＂ of the Oriental painter Wang Mengsha and the Western theatre master Shakespeare resulted in a collision of aesthetics and soul.

Graduated from the Xi’an Academy of Fine Art with a major in animation, Wang Mengsha advanced her studies at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, and the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. Through her art that draws inspiration from literati paintings, auspicious patterns, popular culture, and the emotional expressions of her personal experience, she builds a universe of image that is all-encompassing. She has held exhibitions in Space Station, Alisan Fine Arts, Today Art Museum, Song Art Museum, Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, and other places. Her artwork Inebriated under the Shade of Blossoms has become the University of Cambridge’s permanent collection. She has won the ＂YISHU 8＂ Nominated artist and the ＂Golden Star Prize＂ of National Arts. She is now mainly working and living in Beijing.
