Eugene Van Meyer has trudged through life under the weight of poor self-esteem and a willingness to accept less than he deserves. Now he is in a position of power and responsibility for which he previously could only dream about, but with it comes a significant caveat: working for the nefarious and emotionally abusive Hamelton Skrean.

Skrean has put Eugene in charge of a time-traveling technology with orders to find William J. Allerspan. Allerspan, one of the nation’s first governors of color, disappeared without a trace forty years ago as he considered making another run for the state’s highest office. And what of one Clancy Wigwort, the man who developed the theoretical basis for time visitation? What connection does he have to Skrean? Eugene makes it his mission to find out the truth.

It is the assignment of a lifetime, yet his boss’s obvious need for information, power and fame conflicts with Eugene’s ethics. Plus, the longer he is able to drag out his assignment, the longer he can interact with the beautiful Cidally Short, his secret crush to the nth degree.

Ultimately, Eugene has decisions to make. Does he complete his mission or defy his authoritarian employer? Does he let the cycle of time play itself out or use the technology to rewind and replay time? His decisions will impact more than just his own destiny.
