In the city of St. Marrow, humanity’s last refuge, a wall of dense, impenetrable fog traps its people in fear. Beyond the city’s walls lie the forgotten villages, abandoned by the ruling High Council and left to rot. Starvation, sickness, and despair are daily battles for the villagers, but a more terrifying fate awaits beyond the fog, where unseen monsters lurk, and few return alive.

Every year, the High Council randomly selects citizens to face the Paracosm, a twisted experiment designed to find a way to defeat the fog’s monstrous inhabitants. Those chosen, the prototypes, are rarely heard from again. When Violet Holloway is offered a job to save someone from being thrown into the Paracosm, she seizes the chance, hoping the pay will be enough to save her dying village. But when things take a dark turn, Violet finds herself trapped in the experiment, forced to confront the horrors of the fog firsthand.
