After a traumatic influenza epidemic nearly wipes out the world population, young Deanie, finds her self alone except for an occasional armed wacko or a hungry cougar.

Raised in a military family and trained by her father to survive any disaster, Deanie is capable of taking care of herself. After several years on her own, she finds a small community trying to form a new civilization.
