The research was the cross sectional type study and the sample constituted the 90 elderly depressed females, 45 each from both old age homes (institutionalized) in Delhi, India and from home settings (non-institutionalized) from East Delhi & NCR region, India. The elderly females were in the age range of 60 - 80 years. The data collection involved three phases, wherein the first phase was concerned with the screening and evaluation of the sample with Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology (IDS-C) and WHO-Quality of Life (QOL). The second phase constituted the intervention where 45 females from each group (institutionalized & non-institutionalized) were assigned to three treatment conditions (15 each) involving yoga therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and control condition (no therapy). The post assessment phase was the third phase and it involved the post intervention assessment with the help of BDI, GDS and WHO-QOL.
