Chyanbin Hwu is Chair Professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He obtained his B.S., from National Taiwan University, R.O.C. in 1981, his M.S. from National Tsing-Hua University, R.O.C., in 1985, and his Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Illinois Chicago, United States, in 1988. He was elected to be the president of the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (R.O.C.) in 2008. He is a fellow of the Aeronautical and Astronautical Society (R.O.C.) and the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (R.O.C.).
