Bill woke up from a 9-month coma only able to move his left arm an inch. He had a tracheotomy to help him breathe and a tube in his stomach that fed him. A 23-year-old physics major at the University of Colorado Boulder, he was out for a joy ride with his buddies when their car went out of control and Bill was thrown 40’ and landed on his head in the street.
He was not given any chance of recovery.
With vulnerability and humor, Bill writes this story himself and tells what it is like to be paralyzed and his tenacious 36-year journey to learn to walk again. His recovery required tremendous effort and a lot of time in the gym and in therapy. Bill learned to live a full life that included many exciting activities such as navigating a ropes course, river rafting, snow skiing, and even dancing. Most of all, Bill’s story is about becoming a better person and having a strong faith in God.
