Gabriel Alberto Ferrer Ruiz was born in Montería, Colombia. He is a tenured professor at the Atlantic University in Barranquilla, Colombia and founder of the Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Literarias del Caribe (Caribbean Literary Studies and Research Center) and the magazine Cuadernos de Literatura del Caribe e Hispanoamerica. He has a doctorate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He obtained an MA from the Caro y Cuervo Institute, Bogotá and an MA in theology from Lauren University (Miami, Florida). Published books: Etnoliteratura wayuu: estudios críticos y selección de textos and La poética de Luis Carlos López, as well as numerous articles published in specialized magazines. He is the author of the collections of poems; Veredas y otros poemas, Sinuario and Festejos.
