Fenella Romaine is having a bad day. Her agent no longer wants to represent her, and her career as a bit part actress seems to have ground to a halt. A chance meeting, with an old colleague from a happier time, leads her to new challenges as a Foley Artist, ceating sound effects for films and television. Working behind the scenes, hidden away in a dark studio in London’s vibrant Soho, she enters a world where dead fish make the noise for aliens, and cornflour doubles for snow, and hopes the secret of her broken heart will remain undiscovered. But a familiar face, glimpsed in a crowded street, brings memories of an idyllic summer spent filming in the country, with a boy she thought would never let her down... Set in the late sixties and early seventies, providing an insight into the ways of creating sound for film, Fen is a charming, funny story, of a love lost through misunderstanding and the possibilities of hope.
