This book proposes a debate on the city and education in contemporary times, taking as its object of analysis the Educating City and Citizen School programmes in the city of Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil. The discussion around the concept of an educating city brings to light the difficult task of establishing education as a guiding concept in the development of public policies and urban planning. As cities today are organised according to the logic of globalisation, it is worth searching for a model of city and school that will help us achieve full citizenship at the beginning of this century/millennium.
