In this story, inspired by true events, we meet Nick and Lindsey Reeves, a happily married couple who, along with their two young children, are forced to face an evil paranormal presence within their new home in Southern California.
In 2008, they believed they had finally found the perfect place to raise their young family. Little did they know that the house was already occupied by a legion of sinister entities that immediately marked Lindsey as their prey and would stop at nothing until they had claimed her soul.
Having had little to no prior exposure to the paranormal, the family did not initially make the connection between the small things that were happening and the supernatural. But it wasn’t long before the bizarre unexplained events started to escalate out of control. Within a short time, the entities had begun to dismantle the very foundation of this family.
They were heading toward total destruction, and Lindsey realized that in order to fight this infestation, she needed to prepare herself for all-out spiritual warfare. The negative entities recognized her attempts to drive them from the home and retaliated with a ruthless vengeance. In what might be her most vulnerable moment, a spiritual visitor shared with her what was needed to combat these demons. But would it be in time to save her family?
This story is based upon actual incidents that occurred in our home in Southern California. At the time, we lived in a quiet beach community nestled right next to the Pacific, one that was quickly becoming populated with young families just like ours. A beautiful beach, excellent schools, friendly neighbors—a great place to raise our family. Life was normal then. We did normal things; fell into a routine of work, school, church, family gatherings—nothing unusual stood out about us. Yet when I reflect now, I realize that there were early signs: doors inexplicably opening and slamming shut, the burners on the stove turning on full tilt without anyone touching the knobs, items moving from where they had been left. We blamed the moving doors on ocean breezes; we replaced the stove; we thought perhaps the kids had moved our things.
Then came a more definitive event, when my husband encountered two apparitions in our living room in the wee hours of the morning. Even then I questioned him—you were dreaming, right? Could it have been a shadow, perhaps a trick of the light? Who would have known that this appearance was a signal that the floodgates were about to burst open? From that moment, the inexplicable happenings started to escalate, and they continued escalating up until we left … and even afterward.
By this time I had reluctantly shifted from a skeptic to a believer in the paranormal. We felt stalked by something we could not see, yet it seemed to know our worst fears and projected them back onto us. At the moment when we all teetered on the brink of a total meltdown, we turned to our faith and pleaded with God for the strength to make it through. Soon after, I was greeted by a spiritual visitor who helped me to gather the courage that I needed to find a path to safety.
