A deadly virus has wiped out three quarters of the world's population.  Medical research scientist Dr. Jary Coble had sought -- and failed -- to combat the pandemic.  Now holed up in his university-assigned safe haven, a mysterious figure appears in the dead of night and takes the dejected Coble to an apparently thriving city -- a place somehow untouched by the virus.  What Coble discovers here will change the way he sees the world, and turn his life upside down.
