This work, which focuses on work, youth, and public policy, presents an important discussion on public policies aimed at integrating young people into the labor market, focusing on Ponta Grossa, a city located in the Campos Gerais region of the state of Paraná. Based on empirical research and theoretical reflection, the author critically and thoroughly analyzes the dimension of professional qualification as public policy, as well as its scope and limitations for the integration of young people into the labor market. Among other questions, the author discusses how young people are integrated into the world of work, the types of qualifications that are offered, and the sectors of the economy in which young people have been integrated. In addition to analyzing these issues, the study provides an overview of the qualification courses offered in the region studied in light of the discussion on the theme of Decent Work, advocated by the International Labor Organization.
