Edgar Hartery wasn’t rich and famous. He was a little boy who grew up in foster homes and Mount Cashel Orphanage. He laboured all his life with a speech impediment, a voice as gru as a wounded bear. He had limited education. He was physically abused as a young teen. His rst job was shining shoes at Confederation Building in St. John’s.
