In 2005 and again in 2008, the American Society of Civil Engineers published the ASCE Book of Knowledge identifying the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to practice civil engineering at the professional level. This guide was developed as a reference for a three-credit undergraduate course that presents the topics in the book. It introduces fundamental aspects of 14 non-technical outcomes addressed in the second edition. Among them are social sciences, experimentation, contemporary issues and historical perspectives, public policy, teamwork, attitudes, and professional and ethical responsibilities.
