Stone Soup: A Familiar Folktale Brings All Ages to the Table is a fresh take on the centuries-old tale of the magic that happens when people work together. This version is told through a lens that everyone, regardless of age, has valuable ideas and skills to contribute. Two younger campers share an old family legend that leads a diverse, doubtful, and curious group of stranded strangers in a recreation area to a solution to their shared problem. It begins when downed trees from a terrible summer storm have blocked food deliveries. A special ingredient, a stone symbolizing the hope and generosity of spirit of people happily joining forces, is the catalyst to what quickly becomes a feast. Hungry stomachs are fed, friendships are formed, and respect for what everyone brings to the table is built. The story, discussion questions, and event instructions are a program offering of Roots & Rounds, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the root principles of inclusivity, respect, and innovation to empower multi-age teams in difference-making in their next round of goals.
