About the book

This was a journey started while attending a Virginia wine festival in 1998. I loved traveling around picturesque Virginia visiting wineries and breweries. I thought it would be great to pair these wonderful craft beverages with local food.

It is amazing to think that Thomas Jefferson’s vision of wine created here in Virginia and be internationally recognized is a reality. The amazing craft beer scene brings people from all over the world to try these special microbreweries. How amazing that George Washington’s Rye Whiskey is still enjoyed today. The wineries, breweries, and distillers are true artisans and continue to inspire.

I love getting together with family and friends preparing delicious food and pairing them with exceptional craft beverages. Together they help to capture special moments. Along the way I got to meet terrific people who were responsible for creating these great craft beverages. This is my story.

Inspired by Exceptional Virginia Craft Beverages. A graduate of both Penn State University and the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. His culinary journey has taken him from the Grand Bay Hotel in Miami to Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio in San Francisco, and ultimately to the heart of Virginia’s vibrant food scene.As the longtime Executive Chef of Main Event Caterers in Arlington, Virginia, and a former instructor at Stratford College, Chef Gregg has influenced both plates and palates of thousands by guiding events, mentoring future chefs, and always pushing the boundaries of local seasonal cuisine. As a lifelong flavor explorer, he brings a passion for seasonal cooking and local craft beverages to every dish. He lives in Tysons, Virginia with his wife and three children.
