Rochelle (Songer) Haitz began writing lyrics and short stories as a young child. Reading and writing were important outlets for her. Since she was an Army brat, her parents and two sisters spent a lot of time traveling and moving from state-to-state. She attended 11 different schools throughout her lifetime and lived in Hawaii and Japan. Life for Rochelle was always an adventure growing up in different states, but when her father retired, they settled down in the place of her birth, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a young teenager then - keeping herself occupied with writing, English horseback riding lessons, and hanging out with friends who remain in her life today. Her professional life began at age 19 when she gained full-time employment at a large corporation and successfully sold real estate part-time. After 15 years of marriage and the birth of her three daughters - life took a different turn for her. She became a single mother and pursued her love of writing more ambitiously. She had many articles published in two major Pittsburgh newspapers and various magazines as well. Her love and fondness for Dr. Seuss inspired her to write her first rhyming children’s book, "The House on the Hill in Stinkyville." Along with writing children’s books, Rochelle writes fictional novels and inspirational nonfiction books. She will continue to embrace her love of writing with the hopes that one day her books will be enjoyed by readers everywhere.
