Virubol, Western Siberia, July 1923. The Revolution and Civil War have ended. Vitaly, a young Russian man and veteran of the Great War has returned home to resume his old life. But while his body heals from its physical injuries, his mind wrestles with the effects of shell shock, guilt and disillusion. After a violent confrontation with the local Bolsheviks, who are quick to reinstate their oppressive war time policies, Vitaly is forced to flee. But once deep into the dense woods, he stumbles upon a kind stranger and his family. Who are they? Vitaly has his suspicions. And his doubts. More importantly, will he risk his life to save theirs?
