Luther Carpren came to Germany on a simple mission: to find out how and why his grandfather, Felix Carpren, never came home from the war. Armed only with the deceased soldier’s journal, which documents the man’s life from paratrooper training in Toccoa, Georgia, in 1942 to his death in Landshut, Germany, in 1945, Luther must solve the mystery that has puzzled the Carpren family for nearly sixty years. Unfortunately, what comes with Felix’s relic is more than the story of a soldier who died overseas. With the journal’s yellowed pages comes a deluge of new questions, old memories, and personal battles for Luther, all of which stem from Felix Carpren’s demise at the end of the Second World War.
