Foam plastic materials based on phenol-formaldehyde resins have unique physical, chemical and operational properties. They have an amazing thermal resistance, do not burn, poorly conduct heat. However, the complexity of their manufacture by classical methods makes this valuable material very difficult to obtain for industrial production. The use of microwave activation has allowed not only to reduce the time of production of this material many times, but also to significantly reduce the range of chemicals used in the manufacture of this material. The use of microwave activation made it possible to eliminate the use of highly toxic reagents that do not comply with the principles of the Green Chemistry concept. In this book the methods of synthesis of phenol-formaldehyde foams are considered in detail. The method of searching for optimal conditions for synthesis of this material is described in detail. The book will be useful for students, master’s students, doctoral candidates, researchers interested in high-molecular compounds and their synthesis under conditions of microwave activation.
