剛移民時，每當遇到需要自我介紹的場合，總是令我備感挫折。雖然為了表現得帥氣一點，在腦海中一面思索著加入關係代名詞的華麗詞句，一面在心裡反覆默念，然而到了真要說出口的那瞬間，卻往往像被下了詛咒似的，先前想到的句子都只在嘴裡打轉而說不出口，聲音也愈說愈小聲。所以真正的自我介紹，很多時候在說完名字和國籍後就草草結束了。後來才知道，自己最大的問題是在於練習不足。也就是說，在練習口說時應該要實際發出聲音說話，讓舌頭熟悉發音才對，但我卻只是一昧地在腦海中寫下句子。

很多考生都經歷過跟我一樣的問題。所謂坐而言不如起而行，與其只在腦海中不斷造句，更重要的是，就算只有一次也好，要好好地練習將想法說出口。我看過有些學生用作文來練習口說，對此我想給的建議是，作文只是訓練頭腦和眼睛而已，並非訓練耳朵和嘴巴。再者，在限定時間內，用母語都很難有條有理地談論某個主題了，更何況是用英文。也許你不覺得日常生活英文在使用上有什麼困難，不過在限定時間內是很難說得正確且言之有物的。因此為了提高托福口說的學習成效，充分的開口練習是不二法門。

本書收錄完整 12 回托福口說測驗模擬試題，讀者可先練習自己直接作答，再確認試題中出現的文章或文稿，並對照比較作答範例和自己所說的內容。透過反覆練習及腦力激盪，必能逐步提升口說應試能力，亦即能在限定時間內針對「獨立型試題」做出正反意見表述，並能就「整合型試題」中的解決方案提出自己的觀點。另外，筆者將自己在被稱為語學聖地的首爾江南站一帶從事多年托福輔考的經驗，以及考生經常容易犯錯的部分彙整成本書中的 TIPS for SUCCESS，在應考前一定要充分熟習。
