Born in a village on the Adriatic coastline of Croatia, Donata’s early life tested her resolve yet her steadfast spiritual beliefs guided her through, even in the face of adversity

Escaping a distressing predicament, she landed a dream job at the fashion house of Villa Verla in Milan. Now known as Donna, she lived the life every young woman would die for, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous on her Italian adventure.

Coerced by her much older sister, she emigrated to Australia and ended up in the opal fields of Coober Pedy. How she longed to return to her cosmopolitan fashion lifestyle in Italy.

Enter Tom. In a twist of fate, their paths crossed, and together, they embraced their new life in the ’lucky country’. But, just as they were about to enjoy the rewards of their labours, unexpected events transformed their lives. This became their biggest challenge, enduring years of sacrifice, pain, and sadness that tested their love in countless ways.
