Lucy Abelson

Seeking a civilised sanctuary from her sordid marriage, anthropologist Impey Dalrymple joins a grand old golf club. There she finds herself plunged into strange old-fashioned customs.  Soon she lands herself in trouble with the hierarchy, until the club's top players find they need her.  When a prominent club member is killed on the club's grounds, Impey's knowledge of animnal societies and how they are replicated in human groups, slides her into the role of a reluctant sleuth.  Yet when she delves beneath the surface of the upper crust members' lives, she finds, even in the best places, nature is still "red in tooth and claw".  But ifr the dares reveal the top members' secrets, she jeopardises her own refuge.
