Why so downcast, O my soul?
Twenty-seven-year-old Stefan Campeau is handed a death sentence.
Against medical advice, he escapes with his dog to the scenic town of Acantilado del Mar to face his death.
There, he encounters the last two people he wants to meet-a beautiful woman named Samantha and another doctor. Samantha agrees to take Stefan’s dog when he dies. But the mysterious, prescient oncologist, Dr. Miguel Calderón, has other plans.
The alternative doctor coaxes Stefan back into treatment, and the patient uncovers one shattering truth after another about himself, including that he gave up on living long before he ever became ill.
But as Stefan slowly recaptures some glimmers of joy in being alive, his transformation begins to affect others adversely, and the methods of the "Curandero" come under increasing fire from people in the town.
Curandero, a compilation of true experiences interwoven into a fictitious story, embraces existence with all its pain and mystery and the inherent value of every life-no matter how long or short.
