The research project of the iron and steel sector is carried out with the purpose of analyzing the strength of the sector in the Colombian country, reviewing the strengths (Opportunities) and weaknesses (Threats), in order to define how attractive the market is and what impact it has on the economy. For this purpose, the PESTEL analysis tools and Porter’s five forces are used, which allow to have a global and macroeconomic vision of the environment. Once this exercise has been carried out, it can be defined that the iron and steel sector is one of the strongest in Colombia (ANDI, 2018) since it is presented as the backbone for the country’s development. In the research it is found that this sector is one of the main suppliers of raw materials for strong sectors such as construction, automotive and hardware (Hadad, 2017) which concludes that it is a sector that generates strong profits, which has a strong impact on the market, making it aggressive and tending to have a strong bargaining power with its suppliers and customers.
