As fashions and subjects change, and as new products and advertisers discover the vehicle of the poster, so the two-dimensional world of the billboard continues to expand. Consumer goods and the arts, tourism and social topics, politics and local news — all are expressed in this large-scale format.

The poster, fast and ephemeral, is dead — and is born anew every day. As long as graphic artists, photographers, illustrators and copywriters continue to devote their powers of imagination to reinventing the poster, it need fear neither the competition of electronic media nor the weariness of a supersaturated public.
