Productivity Management of Apparel Industry in India - A Systems PerspectiveIndia, with its rapidly growing economy, holds vast potential in apparel manufacturing, a key segment of the global textile trade. Despite its diversity, the Indian textile industry is fragmented, with apparel manufacturing significantly contributing to employment and exports. Amid global competition and shifting comparative advantages, enhancing productivity is crucial. This book presents a systems perspective to manage productivity in India’s apparel sector using System Dynamics (SD) modeling. Drawing from financial data of listed firms in the PROWESS database, it correlates Total Factor Productivity (TFP) with key financial ratios, reducing them via PCA and SEM to identify productivity drivers. The SD model built using IThink software enables dynamic analysis and policy simulation. Sensitivity analysis guides strategic financial planning for sustained productivity. This research offers a holistic framework to support policymakers and managers in improving productivity across the apparel industry.
