Ksenia Sapunkova is a Canadian artist who was born in Ukraine, and grew up in Lviv. After studying BA Sculpture at the Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Ivan Trush she moved to Toronto to pursue BA Illustration and attend graduate school at Sheridan college. Currently she works with a variety of media including watercolour, ink, oil, digital. Her choice of tools is a mix of watercolour and ink media, which she discovered as a most efficient to create atmospheric and conceptual illustrations. Ksenia collaborates with magazines, newspapers and book publishers in Canada, Cuba and Ukraine. Her paintings are exhibited in private collections and museums of Russia and sold in Canada, US, Ukraine, Russia, Poland and Italy. Working with children’s books as both a visual storyteller and in an editorial role, Sapunkova has grown as an illustrator by bringing her own unique voice to the world of Canadian children’s literature. Illustration has become the biggest passion in her life and Sapunkova is enjoying the entire journey down her chosen artistic path.
