For over two decades, Mr. Shastay has taught every stenography class from Theory to 225s, including computer and transcript classes. With his free time, he created several computer programs for court reporters which he initially distributed free to his students. Among his triumphs in stenography are the Drill Machine (an entirely free text reader that he donated to the stenography community as his personal thank you), the Speed Teacher (a wildly popular trainer), CourtReportingHelp.com, (one of the first steno sites to cater solely to students), the famous Four Rules of Stenography (it quickly diagnoses and presents rock-solid solutions to stroking problems), the Magic Drills (the fastest way to learn to always keep up with the dictation, identify hard words and drop when necessary), and the Shastay Way (a no-nonsense compendium that explains exactly what you need without mindless drill or endless memorization). Mr. Shastay’s vast collection of 6,000 personally written, recorded and published drills (some up to 300 wpm) was available for years in CD form, but in time, will be converted into audio books. Mr. Shastay loves pizza, burgers, and cheesesteaks. (Yes, "cheesesteak" is one word.) The one theme tying all of his work together is that stenography should not be as tough as people make it. All it really takes is a little knowledge and a little drive.
