Mutiny onboard the ＂Amazing Grace＂ finds our Captain Smew and the only loyal members of his crew, marooned and left to die. The group’s challenge is to use their skills of survival while finding a way off the island. Not an easy task and as luck has it, there are distractions. Smew stumbles upon a treasure map and is smitten by a curse that could destroy the thing he values most. Two pirates battle but Smew is forced to escape by jumping into a volcano tube that could lead to his death. How does he survive? In the course of it all, Smew discovers something about the immense power of greed and what it can make a man do. He discovers something more valuable than all the gold and diamonds in the world. Along the way you’ll see beautiful Hawaiian landscapes as the story takes place on ＂some deserted tropical island＂. Within this first of a 7 volume series are positive life lessons, lacking in much of media these days. This particular volume uses adventure and conflict to compare greed and materialism to love and friendship.

Richard W. Dyer was a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years. He coached Wrestling for 12 years. Richard served a mission in Guatemala. He is a US Army veteran interrogator/linguist, the father of four children, grandfather to ten. He works as a safety manager zealously striving to keep his fellow employees safe and healthy. Coupled with university psychology courses, these experiences aid in giving Richard insight into how young people think and into some of the struggles they face in today’s changing world. Woven within Captain Smew’s adventures is a message infused with hope, love, and charity meant to inspire young people, and old (er), to endeavor to open their hearts and minds to the eternal law of sewing and reaping, understanding that if we hope to have joy in this life and in the life to come, that process begins here and now. In the ＂Seven Deadly Sins of a Pirate＂ series we’ll find Smew facing his weaknesses and showing that if a rotten-timbered, scurvy sea dog pirate can do it, anybody can.
