When Cameron Bennett allows his widowed mother to move in, he’s acutely aware of the dangers and strain it will place on his marriage of five years to his wife, Sydney. Rather than resolve the conflict, however, Cameron opts to avoid the tough conversations and focuses instead on the things that are going well in his life. He has job security as an Army civilian. Sydney is just a few classes away from finishing her Master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Cameron has a daughter whom Sydney has embraced as her own. While Cameron is busy taking care of his mother, he learns a shocking secret that sends him into a downward spiral. Plagued by emptiness, Sydney finds consolation in using her body and attractiveness to get the attention she seeks from her husband. Her beauty becomes the primary attribute she uses to define her value. Cameron and Sydney’s lives take an unexpected turn when a tragic incident occurs, involving someone they both know.
