Walter Lambert was born halfway between Halls Crossroads and Harbison’s Crossroads in rural Knox County in 1935. His family lived on a farm until he was in high school. As the oldest of 8 children, he learned to cook early out of necessity. He later discovered cooking was a lot easier than hoeing corn. Walter was associated with the University of Tennessee for more than 30 years in jobs that had nothing to do with cooking. However, he never lost his interest in cooking. For the past 24 years, he has been associated with the local CBS affiliate and presents a cooking segment at noon 5 days a week. His late wife, Anne, joined him in this venture.
