In today’s turbulent and extremely competitive environment, Brazilian companies are seeking greater competitiveness in order to meet the new demands of a globalised world. The main aim of this research is to characterise and measure the degree of internationalisation of Brazilian companies in the higher value-added products sector of the timber industry, based on a multi-case study. At the same time, an analysis is made of the internationalisation process used, describing the main difficulties encountered and the respective solutions adopted during its implementation. Ten companies in the sector were researched, selected according to their relevance to the sector. The results obtained prove the consistency of the formula created on the basis of theoretical assumptions, revealing important trends in the internationalisation process, organisational structure and technology used in the industry.
