This work investigates China's sheep meat industry in order to understand the forces affecting the policy, institutional, agribusiness, and market environments in rural China. The authors, affiliated with the China Agricultural Economics Group at the University of Queensland, Australia, draw upon their research on other livestock industries in China over the last two decades to enrich the analysis and identify broader trends throughout the livestock sector as a whole.
